Minnows in my sump!

There are 3 Minnows/Fry in my sump. I first saw them last night in there, and they are still there doing well!

Im not sure what kind of fish they are, but there is plenty of food and light for them down there....

How long before you can tell what they are? They are in the section of my sump with my return pump, Im thinking about netting them out and placing them into my Fuge.

I have the following in the tank...

6 green chromis
2 fire gobies
1 orange shoulder tang
1 scribble rabbitfish
1 sargassum trigger
1 sailfin molly
1 dalmation molly

The fish are pretty small, the largest is about 3-4" as the tank is pretty new. This week i just added the gobies, mollies and rabbitfish.

Could one of the fish been pregnant on there way to the tank, or are my chromis breading?

I can't not say for sure but after working with mollies at the farm and watching them go even into the pipes and pumps to different tanks, i think we have a winner...

Thanks, I thought they were probably mollies....You can always hope for something different...lol

BTW here is a pic of a mysid, I dont believe that is what they are

Cool. We get a lot of folks showing up here excited about baby fish in thier reef which turn out to be mysids 90% of the time, that's why I tossed it out :D

I got a good look at them tonight with the sump light on...

I have 5 in there for sure. Part of them are black and the others are silver. Im hoping they will make it!

Sounds kind of nerdy, but I get excited when new things happen in the tank :D

I guess we should ask the obvious question...is there a male and a female here? Of course, even if both females, don't livebearers have the ability to store sperm packets for a few months?

Parts of them are Black, Parts of them Silver...sounds like "Dalmation" to me!

Oh don't worry, they will make it. And if you have a pair there will be more... and more... I have had marine mollies going for years

Matt- yes that is suposed to be true but I've never actually tested it.

I don't think any of the other fish that he listed would have survived on thier own in the sump. It is tough enough when your actually trying.

Definitely the mollies. As much as it would be cool to be something else...odds are pretty darn slim.

David, mollies can store sperm for a while. I had a "pair" of female mollies in my old 30g reef tank that had three batches of fry without a male present.

Nobody wants to back the chromis??

We can hope for the best :D

It looks like there are only 4 in there now...So one might have gotten sucked up by the Mag 5 and was a snack for a lucky fish..lol

If they survive, long enough to tell what they are, Ill post up and let all know.
