Miracle Mud in refugium

I used to have one of those HOT Ecosystem Miracle Mud filters. I recently move the mud with the algae to a sump. The instructions said to leave the light on 24/7 which I do. Should I go to an alternate cycle kind of thing (sump light on at night/main lights on during the day. What do you think?
