Ok , so I bought 220 lbs of Ocean Direct live sand. I have a 75 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump. Ok I hope I have given enough info.
Here is the question , Has anyone ever used miricle mud on the bottom of their display tank then putting there preferred substrate down on top of the mircle mud ?

I haven't, but you want to be careful if you're doing that. Miracle mud is mostly silica sand, which is harder than aragonite. So if you have it in your display and some grains get stuck in your mag float you can scratch your glass very easy.

I don't have the link handy, but there was an anaylsis done on Miracle mud that found it to be mostly silica sand and some iron. The iron is handy for macro algae growth, and the silica sand is essentially useless. Some will argue that miracle mud will not benefit your tank at all. That's for you to decide.
