Miracle Mud

Anybody use Miracle mud in their refugiums? I was wondering if it was worth the investment, and if so what is the best place to buy it?

I have it in mine, but it came in there when I bought the setup from rogger. I think it's about due for some new mud...but everything in my tank is going good so I'm not sure if I'm going to change it or anything. gotta do some research. maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

I read somewhere on a forum that they tested the stuff and they found pieces of bark and rodent droppings which in fact was no different than your average backyard dirt. However, since you cant believe everything you read, I wondered what the validity of this was.

Now that's the kind of post that shouldn't have been posted. I'm sure you did not have negative intentions by your post and you even said yourself that it may be unfounded. However, this is exactly the type of post that someone will remember and will end up writing in another forum somewhere that they "read somewhere" that this stuff was bad. I apologize in advance if this offends you.

I have used miracle mud myself. I have had (what I would consider) good results with it.

Do I know for sure what's in it? - No, I don't.

Your kidding right???
Im planning on buying the stuff to use it myself? So I am not slamming it or slandering it in anyway. Just wanted members opinion and experience that have used it.

Not really.

Your first post was fine.

You could have just as easily left it at that without the "I read this" post and you would have gotten the requested responses (whether they be positive or negative about the product).

My only point is that this is the kind of post that has the "ability" of starting/spreading internet rumors.

I have miracle mud in my fuge as well.

Much like macaw, mine is about a year old now and probably needs to be replaced but everything has been good so far so i'm hesitant/too lazy to replace it.

I dont know whats in it or if it actually works but my sps,lps and softies do prety good and i dont dose anything so imo it does work.

I'd like to point out that i did use it 3 tanks ago.

I have use it in the past, I never saw any negative effects and the tank I ran always did very good. I can't say that the mud was the reason for the success of the tank but for sure it did not hurt.

I believe manufacturer recommends 50% replaced yearly, just vaccum half and replace with new mud, Don't run the sump while you are doing this and until it settles
