Mis-Bar Percula

I went up to Drs. Foster and Smith today and I got a pair of Mis-barred Black Percula. Up until this point I had only seen Mis-Barred False Percs in the black color. It's been bothering me since I got them, since at one point it was called a Occelaris and on the receipt it was labeled as True Percula (Mis-Barred).

So I took pictures:

I think they are True Percula's based on the dorsal fin, it looks "veined" like the True Percs I have always seen. It doesn't have the rounder shape of the False Perc either. However I figure I would post anyway. Plus I think they are very cool looking and exactly what I wanted so I wanted to show them off a bit. :lol:

Those actually look like mis-barred Darwin Ocellaris (the black and white ones). It would be extremely unusual to find true perculas with that much black on them. They are very nice looking and well matched in appearance.

To be honest that's why I posted. That was my thought, I had only ever seen the Darwin Ocellaris. This is described exactly like this on the receipt:

"True Percula Clownfish - Hawaii (Tank bred) Var. " CN-80135

Doh I just figured it out. When I went to bring up the item number I got this page:

Live Aquaria - Tank Bred True Percula

I notice they have a black version as well. Well problem solved.

There are no black perculas. They are A. ocellaris.

I've got a pair just like them and ones a mis bar. They are Ocellaris not percs. They are still a pair of sweet fish

LOVE the one in the first pic. My favorite mis-bar is when the are almost totally missing the middle stripe. My black clown is exactly like that.

This was figured out, I got with F&S and it was mislabeled. I have a misbarred set of Ocellaris. I knew in my gut (hence the posting) that something wasn't right. I have done research, but I had never ever seen a black Percula. Well, my gut was right my brain was wrong thinking I got something unique.

They kick @#$ anyway. The large one is struggling with eating and the little one is doing well. They are establishing dominance it looks like now. The large will charge and the little will shiver. Sometimes the little charges. No harm done to either so far and they have been in one tank for over a week. Since I am not an experienced clown owner I am not sure what I am watching exactly.
