Miscellaneous Supplies

Hey everyone,

I am trying to make a list with the miscellaneous supplies that I am going to need to setup my 90g AGA RR aquarium. I have the main stuff already, skimmer, tank, stand, custom 40g sump and Typhoon III. Here is my list and please add on anything I forgot...

- (2) 300w WonBrothers Titanium Heaters
- Sybon HD Refractometer - FG100sa

- Suggestions on test kits ??

I'd like to make an order from PremiumAquatics today with all my extra/miscellaneous supplies that I know I am going to forget without the help of some RC members.

Is it a reef only-- Salifert test kits-- Calcium, Alk, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate, and PH.

FOWLR you can do without the Calcium, ALK, and Phosphate.

TrooperVinny,

Thanks for the help. Exactly the suggestions I am looking. I already have some stuff from my freshwater tank but I need things like the Mag Floats and an extra thermometer never hurt.

tanker,

Thanks, I am planning on doing FOWLR but I do not want to change my mind down the road and have to redo things so I will go with the good test kit and use only what I need.

MCary,

Would you suggestion smaller heaters? I would like to do 2 heaters incase one fails and isnt bigger better for heaters? Should I go with (2) 200w heaters? Its 130g with the sump.

are you going to do a refugium ?

that was one of my best additions to my setup, and if you are going to do it , the time is when you set up your main tank

also a algea scrapper

one other thing that i am getting this week is a good APC for any short term power surges or outages.

Yes, I built a refugium in my sump when I made it. I do not know exactly how to go about setting it up yet and still have to research it, but yes, I will be doing a refugium.

And by algea scrapper, you mean something like a mag float? And the APC UPS is a good idea which I will be adding in shortly.

I would think bigger is better for heaters. Small heaters would work harder and stay on longer so the electric cost would be the same it seems. And if you are thinking backup then the logic is sound. My bad.

MCary,

Yeah that is how I was thinking as far as the electricity costs too. Thanks.

slb11106,

Yeah, I like that idea. Add one of those to the cart too! Thanks!

If you stay on the course for a FOWLR then just keep the lights that come with the tank. Fish do not need special lights. If no lights then just get whatever is cheapest.

I didnt order lights with my tank because I wasnt sure at the time what I wanted to keep yet. But I am pretty sure that I am going to want corals and anemones so I think I am going to do the lights right the first time. Spend the money now and not have to do it twice.
