missing anemone

Woke up this morning and my long tentacled anemone of four years was missing. It was fine yesterday. What could happen to it overnight? Everything else is fine.

did u take the time and move around rocks/check the stats of your tank to see if he died or is just hiding under a rock for some random reason. heard it happening to a worker at the lfs, mainly because he left his mh on 24hrs on accident and because of that he went underside the rock

I see a wierd slime ball in the back of the tank that could have been him at one time but can't reach it.

You really need to find a way to reach it. If it is the LTA and it's dying - they can pollute and nuke your tank.

What about my homeless clownfish? Do I need to worry about them?

Anybody have any ideas on what can kill it overnight?

Anemones usually don't just die overnight - they usually slowly waste away. Unless it could have released and got caught in a powerhead or intake?

Your homeless clownfish will be fine unless you let a dead anemone sit in the tank.

I was able to tear the tank apart enough to get it out. Not fun!

I raised the lights a bit, could that have caused his problems???

nope, once again what is ur amonia/nitrates. you could simply have ran the water paremeters wrong for a week and he died also the light problem no, if you ran your tank around 80-85 degrees F than it was probably temperature. and your clown is fine i would be doing large water changes to substitute for the amonia/toxins released in tank.

amonia/trites/trates all read 0.

Tank runs within less than 1/2 degree of 80 all the time, no temp swings.
