Missing Clown

Got home from work today and checked the tank as usual, fed the fish and only one of my occelaris clowns showed up to eat. These two never miss a meal, so I'm a little concerned. I searched for 45 minutes and no clown anywhere. I think it's the male that's missing although I never could figure out who was who. They haven't done the shimmy for over 8 months. So, I guess that he is either dead in the rocks somewhere, got eaten by the haddoni, or could be protecting eggs somewhere under the bta's. Who knows? I'll give him a few days and see if he shows up.

If he is gone, I definitely want to replace him. Would I be better off getting one or could I get a few juvi's and let them decide on who is going to be the new male? Also can you mix the orange and the b&w occelaris?

Tank is covered with eggcrate so he didn't jump. Ammonia, trites and trates are all zero ph is 8.1 and everyone else is doing well.

And I got these two over a year ago. They were my first 2 fish. They were full grown when I got them so I have no idea how old they are.

No, I haven't. There's only about an eighth of an inch between the eggcrate and top of the overflow. My yellow watchman's practically lived in them until I put the eggcrate over the tank.

I found him. He or maybe she was hiding behind a large rock. Half the dorsal fin is gone and a good chunk taken out of the tail. The slightly larger and definitely female keeps rushing at him and he turns sideways but sometimes she keeps coming and rams him. I have 5 btas and the clowns just stated going into them. Could she just want them all to herself? Could I have 2 females that lived peacefully together for the last year and now can't?
