Missing FireFish

Hello, while i am not exactly totally new to this hobby i do have a new question or rather concern. I recently finish setting up my Biocube and ive noticed waking one morning one of my two firefish went totally missing, no carcass, no nothing to find of him. I have heard what sounds like clicking or popping commonly referred to from A. Pistol Shrimp, or B. Mantis Shrimp when im going to sleep from a few nights. Im not sure how to catch it if there is one. Also alot of my cleaner snails have died however the corals, etc are all ok. I do have a semi-aggressive lobster but thats the only thing i can think of that would actually go after the fish if it sept to low when i went to sleep. Anyhow, anyone know a way for sure to find out how this happened or other logical conclusions? Its a 29 gallon tank which means this mantis if as so was one would have to still be able to fit in the live rock holes.

Sounds like you covered all the possibilities. I'm betting on the lobster. I had a Firefish disappear a few months ago. In my case, I think it either jumped behind the bookcase
Or got eaten by the anemone. Hope you find yours.

If you think you have a mantis shrimp hitch hiker in there, you can buy a trap.

firefish will kill each other if it's not a mated pair... then there's the chance of being eaten by lobster, pistol, or mantis... or even the snails over night.

my fire fish was doing fine with its buddy purple fire fish... after 2 weeks, the purple one went missing. haven't seen it ever since

probably the only guaranteed way of finding out is removing your rock work.. but that may hurt your other fish/inverts on accident

I had my firefish disappear for months at a time, never to be seen, then suddenly they are there again. (I have a lot of hiding spaces in my rockwork)
