missing peppermint shrimp?

We have a 38gal nano tank... We have 2 snowflake special clowns, a randalls goby with a tiger pistol shrimp, a stripe fanged blenney, a baby blue tang, a pom pom crab, emerald crab, 7 blue leg hermits, 3 turbo snails, and 1 or 2 sand sifting snails, a ghost shrimp, a green open brain, button polyp, green crown leather, blue and rainbow ricordia, green star polyp, red zoanthid, xenia, and frogspawn. Oh yeah and blue tuxedo urchin. We seem to have lost our two peppermint shrimp over the weekend since we added the emerald crab and urchin. Afraid that if they went to molt that the pistol shrimp attacked them but our water parameters are no different. They were very active and we saw them all the time and now nothing. We have lost 2 mushrooms and a rainbow ricordia to the pistol already. Is it possible they just went in to hiding or might they be dead? Thank you for the forums and all the help they have proven to be in the journey of creating an ocean in our house.

if he hasn't been missing for too long, i wouldn't sweat it yet.

i will sometimes "lose" my peppermint in my 75 gallon for a week or more, and he usually eventually shows back up.

i have certainly had a few disappear on me all together, or outright die, but they are very good at hiding. give him some time, and keep an eye out after lights out with a red lens light. he may just turn up.

Trying not to worry as our pom pom did the same and showed up again with new anenomes, however, we lost both peppermint at the same time and they were always out and active. We have what we now think is a ghost shrimp after researching more and he is still out and active but kind of hovers over one certain area all the time rather than swimming around. This hobby can cause some anxiety but it is amazing at the same time. Hoping they are just hiding good and our pistol didn't get them.

I lost all my peppermint shrimp (5-6 at various times). I suspect my pistol shrimp, as I've nothing else that's predatory (that I know of)..

When I use to have a full reef setup my pair of peppermint shrimp had a certain place behind the rock work they would stay all day. At night they were all over the place. Check the tank at night.
