Hi guys,

I have a 150g tank thats mostly SPS. Recently, i added a mitratus butterfly and for the first few days it was doing great. It was eating and all. I left for a week on a business trip and when i came back, its eye was cloudy and its scales were falling off. It hides near a cave in my rockwork now and doesnt even come out to feed like it used to. None of my other fish seem to be affected or sick at all and all of them still have very healthy appetites.

I think it may be flukes and i did a 8min FW dip to confirm but nothing fell off that i could see. I was thinking of dosing dissolved praziquantel powder since we dont have access to prazipro here(Philippines) but im still hesitant to do it since there is still no confirmation on what it is.

What do you think it could be and what should i do?? Help me!

Uronema parasite: dip in fresh water, and allow to rest in qt for a day, prolonged immersion in a formalin bath starting one day later: dosage is 15 to 25 mg/l [I believe that's milligrams per liter] of water: please read the instructions on your bottle. In formalin, a very vigorous aeration is necessary: you can safely add Amquel to prevent ammonia. He may be here for several days.

Remove the fish once symptoms disappear and place in non-formalin water for observation.

It doesn't sound like uronema to me? No mention of sores... Scales falling off and cloudy eyes sound bacterial, though. I've had the same thing show up in a new butterfly, and Maracyn 2 took care of it quickly. The fish made a full recovery. You need to treat with a good antibiotic quickly though since it seems like you've waited a while, and it must be done in a QT.

Please help!!

I just checked the mitratus again and even though the freshwater dip seemed to help, the white on its eye is still there leading me to believe that it isnt flukes... There are also white discolored patches on the fish's body where the scales are coming off. The disease or parasite or whatever it is, is also spreading to a declivis that i got at the same time as the mitratus.

A friend called and i was thinking it may be brooklynella? What do you guys think?
