I know everyone has there own ideas on phosphates and most shoot for zero phosphates. I was wondering what those of you that keep a true mixed reef (Nems, Macro Algae, Softies, LPS and SPS) shoot for as far as phosphates?
I have a mixed reef, still shoot for zero. I never seem to reach it; it mostly stays under 0.1 on Hanna checker. My goal is just to keep cyano at bay. I run an automated water change system to change out 2gal/day. I do run gfo and lately have been experimenting with strontium nitrate in my denitrater. If my phosphates get up to 0.1 I start to see cyano.

Zero PO4 is not conducive to healthy reef animals. All of your corals need a certain amount of Phosphate. Too much is too much, but zero is not enough.

I agree with Dgen that ZERO is not enough but i still thrive for it knowing im not going to get there.
On another note, IMHO- stating you have a mixed reef makes no difference with parameters. If you have just ONE SPS you have to keep your parameters adequate for that animal, since they are the more "needy" of the corals. Softies, and some LPS will be a bit more forgiving.
I keep my SPS dominant tank ( i do have lps and softies also), from 0.04-0.08.
