mixing clownfish
hi guys im new here and its my first post.

so before you guys answer this yes i know, mixing clownfish is bad and they will fight and even kill each other.

i have my tank 1 year and 3 months already (29 gallon).

and have a long tentacle anemone with a single clarkii.

other tank mates are skunk cleaner shrimp, sea cucumber, rock mover wrasse, blue hermit crab (medium size), harelquin shrimp, tridacana maxima clam.

i really LOVE pink skunk clownfish and would like to know if i have only 1 single clarkii (not a pair) with his anemone if i will add a bubble tip anemone with the skunk clownfish will it be ok or will they still fight even though its 2 singles and each have his own anemone?

also at the internet i didnt read that pink skunks host bubbletips but at the LFS here they told me that at the home aquarium they will. is it true?

thanks for all the answers and opinion in advance.

You've got two bad ideas. Mixing clowns and mixing anemones...

at the LFS they had an aquarium (appro 29-30 gallon) same mine, which had 2-3 different species of anemones together with 2 ocellrias, 1 clarkii and 1 pink skunk clownfish.

i thought that maybe because my clarkii is single (not a pair) and the skunk is also single and each have an anemone to host will reduce problems and hostility towards each other.

The thing is we never know what would happen when we try certain things.

For the fish, setup another tank just in case you need to separate then.

As for mixing the anemones, you know... they can be very troublesome...and fragile.

You can definitely try out your idea but it will be very risky.

hey m8 and thank you for the answer and opinion. usually i see that if there is a pair and you mix another specie it will be hostel will the fact that the clarkii is single and the skunk is single and each have anemone of its own will not reduce the hostility? again im not talking about a pair of clarkii and a pair of skunks but about a single clarkii and a single skunk.

Mixing nems is fine should have no problum you can always try it I have many different types of clownfish in my tankas well as an assortment of anemones :)

also would you be kind to tell me if the skunk will host the bubble tip anemone? and how should i introduce it? put the anemone first or the skunk? im afraid the clarkii will host both of them before the skunk will host the bubble tip (clarkii hosting long tentacle already).

I buy the nem and the clown at the same time and acclimate them in the same container the skunks were hosting with my bubble tip untill I put them in my tank with 7 magnificas now they just host those. Worst case you just take the skunk out if they fight too bad but I honestly think you'll be fine.

yes i gonna buy the skunk and the bubble tip at the same time but who should i put in the aquarium first? (as ill need to let the nem hang on the rock first i do not want the clarkii to host it before i put the skunk in and then the clarkii will host it. also, will the skunk host the bubble tip?

I would float a corrander n put the bta in it, then once the fish is acclimate put the skunk in with it. This should help it go into the bta, make should the corrander has room for the fish to swim around it so it goes into the bta on its own.
