Mixing Anemones?

Is it possible to mix different kinds of anemones and keep them in the same tank (not a large tank.. like a 55g. or 30g. )...
like mixing a BTA and a LTA in the same tank or will they have chemical warfare?? Obviosuly they can sting eachother if they come in contact with eachother but otherwise do they "fight"??
thanks in advance..

P.S. this is out of pure curiosity.. im not planning to mix any... im worried about getting 1 anemone let alone caring for 2 :)

They can, in fact, release chemicals into the water to damage other anemones and corals.

That being said many many people (including myself) keep different aneomone species in a single tank. I keep both a BTA and an LTA in my 72 bow front with no ill effects. If either shows stress I'll just run carbon which I do regularly anyway.

An anemone is likely to win just about any chemical fight against just about any coral.

I have a long tentical a rose bubble tip and a florida anenome in my 75g they all get along fine they have ben together about 2 years with no problems

A buddy of mine had a BTA for about 6 months and then introduced a Condy. It was a small Condy, and the BTA walked to it overnight and kicked the crap out of it. He didn't have the right lighting so his BTA roamed from time to time anyway, so I don't know if this was malicious, or an accident for the BTA.

I have a BTA and a "Rock" or Flower whatever you call them. They are inches apart and at night they come in contact with eachother never bothering one another.

In one of my commercial tanks I have had a 20" LTA living less than 2' from a haddoni for over 5 years (and feed only but 3-6 times a year - usually just to show off). In my 3000g holding system I keep anywhere from 4 - 12 species of anemones without immediate ill effects. I tend to keep bta's, lta's and sometimes magnifica's in the same tank when space is limited. Carpets usually by themselves when space permits - however I have kept them with bta, lta, ritteri, sebae, condys, hellfires, tube anemones etc. Cant say this is reccomended for the average home anemone system however.

Anemones dont "hunt" for other anemones. :-)
