i have a55gl and a chance to pick a pair of black percula, i already have apair of maroons in the tank, think there will be a problem?

I keep two black percula with two regular perculas with no problem. Your milage may vary. Mine are in a 120.

When I had my pair of Maroon clownfish I added a pair of perculas and the femal maroon which was about 2.5" long terrorized the perculas. I eventually had to get rid of the percs to keep them from becoming fish food.

i had a pair of maroons female was over 4ins and was so aggressive to the pair of percs i added that i had to remove them very quickley to avoid them been killed.the only clowns which could stand up to the maroons where a 3in pair of clarki clowns.the problem i found with maroon clowns was when they spawned next to their bubble tip any fish which came within 10 ins of it would be attacked, that included an 8in emperor angel.in the i had to rehome them.derek

Eventually, yes. Maroons only get more aggressive as they get older, can't imagine how bad they'd be if they were spawning. I can't even add rock to my tank, she goes ballistic and knocks everything over. She's a lone female that I've had for almost 6 years.

the petshop i used to work for had a 120 gal with alot of live rock. a pair of tomatoe clowns ruled the left 3/4th of the tank and a pair of false percs ruled the right 1/4th. conflics did come when food was put in the middle of the tank. otherwise due to the aquascaping, the pairs could not see eachother unless they went beyond their territory.

it can be done, but it can be risky. maroons can be dificult to pair with eachother, i dont think maroons can be mixed with other clowns. but false percs and true percs are fair tempered. plus others.

what really helps is a large tank and visual barriers

A 55g is too small the maroon clowns will not welcome the new clowns. There is a good chance they will kill them.
