I have a question for y'all...has anyone her been able to combine hatches of babies in the same tank? I was wondering if I would be able to combine successive hatches of Ocellaris in the same 55 gallon as long as they were all eating the same food and I stayed with the 10 per gallon guideline. I would be able to keep water quality ok I am just wondering about aggressin, I figured if they are packed in and a mix of sizes...and they are Ocellaris I should be ok. What do y'all think?
Thanx,

I just put 50 month-old Ocellaris with 40 6 week-olds the other day and everything seems ok.

You'll will do fine,

Hatcheries do that all the time up to 3-4 hatches if the larvae is to hatch that nite.

Some people even combine species that have similar requirements. You can even mix larvae of up to 3 days difference.

ediaz..hmm three days difference? Well I was actually thinking more along the lines of months of difference...for example I would like to have 100 4 month olds...100 3 month olds...100 2 month olds...and 100 1 month olds...the result being I would have 100 4 month old Ocellaris ready to deliver to my locas lfs every month...I know this is not ideal but due to the fact that I am only 18 and live with parents I need to find a way to make it work in as little tank space as possible....thanx for the help and any advie would be gretly appreciated

I got your question wrong,

You mention hatches i though of babies, I have suscefully mixed new born with larvae up to 3 days old with no problem.

If you talk of juveniles, or batches, you will also be fine, you get differences in size from a hatch anyway. the more you have the less aggression. But I think the 1 month old will not have a very good time in that tank, you can always divide the tank with a mesh or screen that allows the small ones escape from the big bully ones and be safe.

I mixed B&W O's and Percs for a hatch last night; so far, so good.
I'll be doing it more often.

thanx for the advice guys I will have to try diciding the tank with mesh so the smaller guys can escape. One more thing...I know 10 oer gallon is general guideline but for Ocellaris what do u guys find to be max #? I can do a large water cange everyday no problem..so aside form water quality...what other factors come into play?
thanx
