Hi, I bought a little yellow/gold stripe maroon and want to get him a buddy. Don't want to breed them. Does it need to be another yellow stripe or can it be the white stripe maroon clown? So can they be mixed? Thanks.

Hi there,
I've actually just had a white stripe paired with a gold stripe at my LFS.
I got a pair of juvenile white stripes a couple of months ago and initially they were fine but then the larger one started hammering the other one, luckily they were in one of my sump partitions so the smaller one decided he would rather take his chances with the protein skimmer and bailed through the algae grill into the next section
I took the larger one back to the store where they had a nice looking decently sized gold stripe, so I had mine dropped in to test the water as it were, after a bit of a rocky couple of days they calmed down and are now happily wed.
