Mixing Salt

I have a ~30g acrylic tank inside my stand dedicated to saltwater mixing. I can refill it from my RO/DI reservoir if I'm in a hurry, or I can use a float valve to fill it straight from the RO/DI unit. A maxijet 900 mixes the salt and keeps the water aerated. It's pretty much always filled, so I have plenty of sw on hand if I need it in a hurry.

Sounds like a good idea. Do you know if those plastic bins made by rubbermaid release toxins into the water?

I have a 50 gal Rubbermaid brute container outside the house that gets filled automatically from the r/o di and a float valve, I have a mag 18 in the container that makes the water looks like a washer machine when I mix the salt a day before. The same pump is used to send the water to the main tank, the whole water change takes about 10 min.

Thanks found the article. IO is what most people seem to use. I think I will pickup a rodi system from ebay today.

Be sure to check out Air Water Ice, who are local (North WPB area), filterguys.biz who are RC sponsors, and I believe give 10% off, and melevsreef.com, who support RC as well, and is run by DWFMAS's own Marc Levinson, who runs a great website to help people starting off in the hobby and with other stuff too. Sure none of those places will be as cheap as ebay, however they give great customer service, have great products, and support our hobby too!
