Mixing saltwater?

Here is maybe a stupid question. I read somewhere that before you add salt you should aerate the water 24 hrs before adding salt.

Then after you add the salt wait another 24 hrs before adding to tank.

I've never heard of aerating the water before salt. I fill my reservoir with ro, add the salt slowly then put in a circulation pump and heater. I usually wait 24 hours before it goes in the tank, but I don't know if that is really necessary.

Fill a spare aquarium with rodi water. Put my circulation pump in. Pour salt in slowly with pump on. Let mix for 3 hours. (Usually end up letting mix for 8)

Come back and test ALK, CAL, PH.
Match it as close as I can to main dispalys ALK.
Then when it's close im done.
It's Aquavitro Salinity (synthetic salt)

I never tested water change before. Interesting I guess i will do that.

Please take note that this process of only mixing a short amount of time and with out a heater is how I mix with this salt per instructions of the company.

But I do recommend, test the freshly mixed salt and try to match like stated. Of course make sure your mixing at the right Specific gravity.

Personally I mix my salt up, drop a heater in the mixing tank, match the specific gravity and let it mix for about 2 hours. After that I call it good.

My rodi reservoir is 35 gallons, this is also my ATO reservoir, I turn off my ATO, add my salt, and left the powerhead that's on it there 24/7 mix it up, I have a heater in the 35 gallon reservoir any way, so after a hour or 2 when the water is clear again, I turn on the ATO again and pump out from my sump, this activates the ATO pump and fills my tank with clean salt water.

I like mixing up and storing my saltwater cold. I usually mix up 25 gallons at a clip....storing premixed saltwater is a good idea in case you need to do an emergency water change. I then transfer whatever I need for a water change into a separate container, throw in a heater with a powerhead and wait for the solution to come up to temp. , which is measured with an IR gun.

There's no need to heat up 25 gallons of water, to only use 5 or 10 at any given.

I like mixing up and storing my saltwater cold. I usually mix up 25 gallons at a clip....

I am thinking about doing it that way but being in NJ.,what will you do when your temps are in the low 30's and below?
