Mixing Tangs

So I have a 75g and I'm upgrading to a 120g. I currently have a purple tang & a clown in the 75g. I know the purples are pretty territorial, so can I add any other tangs to the 120g? Looking for just 1.

Sailfin?
Blue (Dory)?
Yellow?
Kole?

Thanks

By clown do you mean clown tang or clownfish? If it's a tang you will need way more than a 120 and the purple is the least of your worries when it comes to aggression. For a 120 I would not suggest anything but a Kole. Chances of another zebrasoma getting along are slim and a Blue shouldn't be in a 120. Neither should a sailfin.

I have a 300 gallon mixed reef that is packed with live rock and coral. I keep the following tangs successfully and have had them for years (only occasional insignificant bickering):
yellow, sailfin, achilles, gem, orange shoulder, purple, hippo, tomini, powder blue, chevron, fowleri and also a morish idol (tang family)

When selecting your tangs watch them and learn as much as you can about their personality. If you order online, in the notes section ask them to select you a fish that displays low aggression. It's worked for me. I also on occasion have used a clear acrylic box with holes to house either the new tang(s) or the bully. My scariest tang addition was my Gem tang $$$$, it was the last tang added. If possible add all your tangs at the same time.

Assasi, beautiful fish!

To clarify, I meant clown fish.

My purple is the fish I've wanted for a long time, so I don't want to risk someone killing or hurting him. I'd like to add 1 more tang if possible. I purchased a complete set-up from a guy & it came with the fish I listed (and others, it had way too many fish in it).

Thanks!

If you really really like your purple, I wouldn't add another tang... There's plenty of beautiful fish out there who don't pose any threat to your purple. I'd go with a nice trio of fairy wrasses, you get basically the same movement and 3x the color.

Totally agree. Also take a look at the Flameback Dwarf Angel. Beautiful fish and will stand it's ground.
