MJ mod running backwards and forwards

I just started using a modded MJ 1200 on a wavemaker. It is a wavemaker that just ulternates between outlets on a power strip. The pump is just as likely to run backwards as it does forwards. Anyone else run into this and does it effect the life of the pump?

I think the eccomod alleviates this problem, but the other MJmods tend to have this issue... Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I don't run mine on a wavemaker.

You need to put a stopper in. When the pump starts running backwards, the prop will pull out of the housing, hit the stopper, reverse and be pulled back in. Just a short piece of hard airline tubing at the outlet will do.

You will need to replace the prop pretty frequently. These really aren't designed to run on wavemakers.

I'd be interested in a pic of this also.... I've had 2 of these running in my SW mixing tank for months... and theyve always made a loud rattling noise on startup for a few seconds. Never had them go backwards though.

just last week one of the impellars busted through the plastic casing on the back and now gets jammed up constantly...

Best one i've got of mine. You can see the piece of carbon fiber rod at the bottom just to the right of the hard airline tubing. That is my stopper.

The sureflow maxi mods have stoppers in them. I've had mine start backwards and freeze on the stoppers a couple times, but most of the time they correct themselves and spin the right direction.

Got mine at Premium Aquatics. I'm not sure if they sell another brand there or not.

Thanks for the comments. I am going to try the stopper trick. If that doesn't work, I will let you know. If there are any other ideas, keep them coming.
