so. i just upgraded from a MJ 900 from a MJ400 b/c I wanted more flow...but wow, this thing is really strong  Do you guys think I should step down to a MJ600? It's for a AP24g.

woah! you must get alot of flow from that thing. my fish are kinda like "holy crap! what's going on" I guess I have to give'em some time to adjust. Do you have any vids of it? Some of the LPS are kinda freaking out it seems. lol

The only strong flow area's are right in front of the glass and along the opposite side heading towards the intake for the back chambers.

What kind of LPS? Torch, hammer & frogspawn types? I had a hammer and torch in mine and kept them under the nozzle or along the back, anywhere else and they would get blasted.

I keep my rics, zoa's & a cool toadstool leather I just got in the high flow area's.

I have 2x1200s in my 20 cube. I have them on the back directed to the side walls and also an Aquaclear 70 HOB and my corals LOVE IT!. Keep it. I would say get another. Will aid in keeping micro algae down.

oh man you guys are nuts with your flow! :D I guess I'll have to move around some corals because my torch corals are getting blasted. The clowns are also having some difficulties getting used to the flow actually. Right now I have it in the middle directed straight towards the front glass. Should I direct it to the side instead?

Yes, direct the flows against the sides where it is diffused and your livestock will thank you for it and it will help to keep algae from growing there as well. as far as being nuts about the flows, you will have to talk to the shrooms that are splitting on a daily basis and the zoos that are reproducing so fast I am having to cull them out each week.

just to clarify, directing it to the side meaning far away from glass panel? or directly towards the glass panel?

I use the included deflectors that attatch to the output nozzel and direct this onto the glass sides so that there is just a slight rolling boil at the surface. Using the directional/diffuser attatchment is a big (+) over just bare end flow. If a fish or snail strays into it, though it is still putting out the same flow rate, it isn't concentrated enough to do any harm. Hope I explained it right.
Since tanks vary in size and shape you may have to experiment with placement for best results.
