Mod on the classic Herbie

Wondering if anyone sees a problem the below.

I have a 145g room divider display with overflow chambers on both ends. Designed the tank a few years back and was before I heard about the Herbie so in each chamber had placed a single 2" Durso. Though the display is quiet flowing even up to 2000gph, I'm thinking about playing with the plumbing to get rid of the noise through the drain lines and gurgling in the basement sump.

Since I run the CL intake through one chamber and the return through the other I'm forced to keep both overflows, so I'm considering splitting a Herbie between the two chambers. The primary drain would be in one chamber and since I have about 1.5" from the top of the overflow to the euro-bracing, I would raise the height of the weir on the other side by about an 1". The chamber with the raised height would have the backup drain and left dry. For flow control would place a 2" gate valve on the primary drain line just above the sump.

Really can't see negatives other than the water level might be a little higher in the display since to overall weir length will be less.

Now just to find a gate valve locally that doesn't cost a small fortune.
