Modding BC14 for 70 watt halide- How?

I want to mod my BC14 with a 70 watt metal halide but all I find are kits that I have to send in the hood. I want to keep the hood intact because my cats would just love it if I removed it. Does anyone know where I can get step-by-step directions to add a 70 watt fixture to the stock hood? Would I also need to keep the actinic bulb? If so how?

I know this is a lot of questions, but I NEED some LPS and SPS in this tank!

I have an electrician friend that is willing to do all the work for nothing if I can find out how.

Thanks

At first I read this and thought it was crazy, but not that I think about it I think it could be an interesting idea. You would have to use a 70W HQI bulb I imagine, with an external ballast of course.

(Glass shield is included too :) )
not sure if the 70W will fit in the 150W bracket, if not you could replace it with the 70W/150W I suppose:

and you will probably need one of these:

:D

I can't remember the dimensions of the BC14, but I get with a little DIY'ing you could get the reflector in the existing hood.

Good luck to you on your project !
