Modify Overflow

I was thinking of modifying my over flow with a pvc pipe to get a "Coast to Coast" overflow. Anyone see any problems with this plan?

I guess to get some action on this post maybe I'll introduce some drama, should I use PVC or ABS....., just a ref to a post about teflon tape vs paste for joints. Actually have a slight modification on picture

Seriously wondering if this design seems to make sense before I get the table saw and dremel out. Not to mention getting the PVC and acrylic to play happy and leak free together, not that leaks will be a major thing sense this will all be living in the top 2" of tank.

My recommendation... If you went this route... I'd cut the PVC at an angle... so when you have it mounted it slopes towards the box yet the surface skimming section is still flat... This way the water will move down...

Personally, I think it will be very loud...
