Modifying 6105 cover

hobbzz

How do I change this?
I've got a lot of ball sponges in my tank that clog up the cover of my 6105. Only takes a day or so after cleaning them and they are a pita to remove from my tank.

If I were to cut out every other tooth on the front cover would that adversely affect the performance in any way?

Thanks

Wouldn't this mean the prop would be shredding these? Wouldn't do much good for the prop I wouldn't have thought.

Doesn't bother my 6155 with 6205 cover. They get sucked in a spit out. They're just soft sponges.

If anything it will very marginally increase flow, you might gain 50gph, the 6305.130 front housing is exactly this but it is molded so every other ray is missing (another option if you want a more refined factory look). The only real concern would be damage to the prop, not so much from sponges but harder things that may get in.

Thanks Roger. Larger things getting in would be the same concern with any of the other larger stream pumps anyway, so it's no more risk than anyone has with them.
