Mods for JBL 12g

I just got a JBL 12g nano and before I get too far into setting this pretty little thing up I was wondering if there are any mods that people recomend. I am happy with the lights so I'm not going to mess with that, but I was wondering if some of you nano-aquarists are putting a different return pump in. Any other suggestions and experiences are very welcomed. Thanks.

MaxiJet 900 or 1200 w/HydorFlo
Remove stock filter media and replace with
ChemiPure, Purigen, Filter Floss or 1 sponge cut in half
strip backing off back of 1 chamber, add 6500K light and chaeto
Sapphire skimmer if desired

With the stock pump it's digging a hole on the sand in the front, are MJ 1200 too much? As far as peeling off the back of one chamber, I was confused about that but then I realized that the black back is just a sticker right? Just exacto knive it and peel off? Surface skimmer uh? didn't think about that but I'm going to do it.

I just set up a JBJ 12g and I have the MJ 900 in the tank back with the hydor-flo up front and it's perfect flow in the tank, I have a MJ 1200 in one of my other tanks and think that is way too much flow.

I plan on doing the fuge in the back as well and it's just a sticker on the back.
