Mohawk Placement (lighting)...not on top of your head :)

I've got all kinds of zoas and palys and plenty of higher end stuff like PPE, Envy orange, Darth Maul, Nightmares... but I've had the hardest time getting a mowhawk colony to color up, they open just fine and look healthly but not as colorful as everyone else's pics. I run a radium bulb in a 150w sunpod over a 24 gallon aquapod. Any ideas of whether they should be higher or lower/ direct or indirect? I'm sure you won't have the same setup but maybe some of the same zoas so you might be able to tell me more light than purple death but less than darth maul, etc, etc. Any help will be appreciated, everything else looks great but these frustrate me, maybe it's just the spectrum?

Well where are they in the tank? Have you tried putting them higher or lower for a few days see any changes? I have the slightest clue as to where to put them just wondering. Do you have a picture of them?

I've tried high, mid, and low but direct so I was wondering if low or mid and partly shaded was worth a short, but I'll give mid a shot for a couple more weeks and see what happens.

I have my mohawks in medium light on a rock and they have grown super fast...prob about 60 polyps now....and fully open they are about the size of a nickel

Mohawks will gain their best color under direct MH. Give them a month under it and you will be amazed at the purple/yelow coloration they will gain.

I have mine under a 250w in a 20g and they are boring looking compared to everyone elses lol they do have some pinkish speckles but thats about it. They are back up top again to see how they fair, if it doesn't work I might just give them away lol

What color temp is you MH lighting? Under 10K they do look kind of dull, 14K spectacular and I don't know about 20K.
