Has anyone ever had a mold issue from their tank accidents(You know the one where the water leaks all over the floor and into the walls) over the years of having a system in your house. Can black mold come these spills? I know some level of mold is present in the air. Do you have a musty smell in the house when you come home from being on vacations? I know lots of questions. My daughter is having a continuous cough over the past 3 months and we are trying to eliminate variables. Thank you for your input!

Yes, I have. It's hard to get rid of because the tank makes an environment that's naturally moist and conducive to mold growth. It's worrisome to use moldicides near a reef tank. I took a shot and used vinegar and it worked. As you can imagine...it stunk. The other alternative is to hire the people who clean up after floods to come in.

No, it was white mold. It went away.
But yes, it was musty. We used to live in an old house that had mold and it kills my allergies. I noticed the same smell and had a upper respiratory infection from August until April. Like an idiot I didn't put two and two together right away. But it's fine now. It was even growing on the glass inside the tank just above the water line.

I had a spill also on when my 100 was set up. I moved it to put up the 215 and there was black mold under the stand one the carpet. I call my buddy the was a professional carpet cleaner and he told me the only way really to kill it is 10 to 1 water and bleach. I soaked the area with a spray bottle and it was gone the next day but I also let the area dry out for a week.
