Monitors, Controllers, and Testing

I was looking for experience and recommendations from fellow reefers. It has been a slow process for me acquiring piece by piece over time to get to where my 58 RR tank is at now. Sump, Protein Skimmer, MHs, T5s, ATO unit etc... I don't have to tell anyone how expensive everything is ga! Ok now I am to the point where I want to incorporate monitors or a controller, but everything is so dang confusing. There are EC, TDS, and ORP just to name a few. It's like reefers are from the military abbreviating everything. I just want to be able to grow sps like I see in some of these tanks in 'Tanks of the Month" without having to apply for a home equity line of credit. I am seeking some solid advice from someone that can grow sps like a champ on what you would do from here? What has worked for you? Ie considering the size of my system would you recommend just a pH monitor and two dose solution? Thanks for everyone's help in advance!

Shane already gave you my advice. SPS is great and I myself like the challenge. As far as the tanks of the months go Im sure they all had to take a lean against their homes for their systems. LOL !!!

Shane, I think most of us wish for that miracle simple thing to make our tanks grow the way we wish they would. The truth is, research is your biggest ally. I ahve a great tank and great setup, yet SPS are niminal for me, yet softies and LPS grow like gangbusters! So many things can factor in for what is known, and much more for what is yet unknown....

Now that I am done being vague, I will point you to Cee. He is, bay far, the most successful I have seen with SPS. ALthough he is a member of ETRC, he is very nice. Drop him a PM.
