I got a plate like 9 inch brown Monte from a friend but it was broken into a few pieces. After a few weeks, I took it out of the tank to glue it back together. I thought that it was fairly tolerant of being out of the water for short periods of time. The gluing process took a while and I thought that it might get dry so I decided to spray it down with tank water. On about the fourth pump, I realized that I forgot to change the contents of the bottle from fresh to salt water.
I quickly change out the fresh water for salt and sprayed it quite well but a good bit of it died any way, primarily where the fresh water was initially sprayed. Perhaps the stress of being out of the tank contributed to the problem. Some areas did OK, others died out completely and still other parts were left speckled. The death stopped and there wasn't an infection so things are static now.
If other factors are good:
Will the flesh re-populate the bear areas or will it be stiffed.
Will it just start to grow up and then out again at the boundaries?
Should I just frag off the dead areas so that the ends can grow?
What about the speckled areas?
