Tank has been running for 3 months doing great. added the montipora a week after cycling and it has been doing fine since. yesterday i added a powerhead to the middle right side of the overflow and also put that chalice coral to the right of the montipora. the next morning it looks like this and has stringy mucus coming off of it. since the only things i changed where the flow and the coral next to it, i assume its one of those. i just thought montiporas liked high flow. parameters are all in check. can any 1 help or have some good insight?

I would say that the chalice is stinging the monti cap. Move the chalice further away (from anything that you don't want stung).

I had a chalice placed close to a plate coral when one day I noticed a pie section of my plate coral receding. That pie section happened to be a few inches away from the chalice. I happened to check after lights out with a flashlight and saw the long tentacles of the chalice coral sweeping a fairly large area. To my surprise the tentacles had to have been 3-4" long.

yeah i have a rainbow chalice and its stinger tentacles are almost 8 inches long at night! Itsbetter if you move the chalice. Monti cap is fine... very nice piece by the way!
