Any idea why my red monti cap is loosing skin/ color? I have a 57g with 4x39w on IC 660, and 2x39w for dusk and dawn. I am getting ready to do a water change in the next hour and will post my levels later on tonight.

been having the same issu on one of my caps.. its turning pink???? all paras.. r good... other sps seems fine....no monti eaters either..??? new bulbs... drivin me nuts..

bingo... you got the same thing going on that I do. My acros are fine. My monti is not doing so good though. I have on frag from my original mother colony. The colony was around 2ft, but 18". Very nice coral, 3 different monti that grew together. It did great in my tank for the longest time when I got the frag back, but it turned pink and started fading out on me. Now I noticed my digi doing the same thing.... this sucks

I am dosing amino and iodine. No potassium. Then the usual 3 as well.

I try not to touch them, but I have a wrasse that likes to knock things over from time to time. But they have not really been touched in 2 weeks. The original one that faded out didn't move in months when it faded.

My personal experience....

I had a red cap that turned pink on me when I had a low fishload and fed sparingly.

I have seen a lot of improvement with multiple feedings a day and a heavier fish load. I also began using a better skimmer to go along with the heavier nutrient import.

I feed once or twice a week. For fish I have a neon wrasse, a 6line wrasse, a pygmy angel, a yellow tail damsel, and may or may not have a little goby still in there. They all pick at the rocks all day long, and look fairly fat, so I don't really feed all that often. However, I have not ran my skimmer since xmas, and noticed a bright and rich color enhancement with several of my acros... its my monticaps, and my digi that look bad
