Monti-eating Nudibranchs

I have some monti-eating nudibranchs. I have two monti caps and two monti digitatas. I will remove all four from my system to treat and leave the DT "fallow" without any monitpora.

Does anyone know how long it will take for any remaining nudibranchs and any possible eggs to die without any montipora in the system? I don't want to reintroduce any montipora too early just to have it attacked again.

Any help/insight will be greatly appreciated.

I'd go atleast 90 days, at that point put a piece back in and give it atleast 30 days, I'd check it every few days for the nudis. They are very tough to get rid of, best of luck.

Halichoeres wrasses can pretty much munch through nudi's in many cases.
Nudi's are fairly visible, whereas acro eating flatworms aren't and once the wrasses spot them, they don't give up until they're gone.

AEFW are more difficult to eradicate. Nudi's can take hold, but if you have a good collection of wrasses, they will eventually beat them.

I don't think 3 months of quarantine is therefore necessary. I've seen several tanks beat nudi's with just wrasses.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I dipped the coral that they came on before putting it into the DT, but I am guessing that there were eggs that I didn't see, and that is how they got into the tank. I have been able to keep them under control with manually removing them, and I only see one or two at a time, once or twice a week.

The LFS where I got the infected piece said that he got it from a customer on trade. This LFS is unparalleled in customer service; he suggested that I throw all the montis out and then let the tank lie fallow. He would then replace all of the montis I threw out and give me a couple more to make up for the loss. All free of charge.

I looks like either leaving the tank without monits for two to six month or a Halichoeres wrasse.

Thanks again for the input.

Moser,

I looked up Halichoeres wrasse. There are many different types. What specific type did you have success with?

I have a six line and yellow coris that wouldn't touch them. Bought a fourline (Pseudocheilinus tetrataenia) and they were gone in a matter of weeks.
