Monti eating nudibranchs

I just found one on my purple cap, I can't see any eggs. My question is if it's isolated to this one coral am I best off to throw it in the trash rather than saving it? My fear is infecting other corals and hosting a nudibranch farm knowing even if dipped the eggs don't die. I am willing to try a wrasse but it's risk considering I already have 2 fish in my nano. I have not taken any action at this moment hoping for someone with experience that can walk me through what's best. This is the only pest I have never dealt with since I have been in this hobby. -Addison

If you can pull the monti out and dip it in Bayer at 10 ml per 1/2 cup of salt water every week for 6 weeks you can beat them I did let me know if you have any more questions

Do you have more montis? I went through it in my nano. Unfortunately, I just ripped out my common montis, but I had 2 that I wanted to keep, treated those and haven't seen them since. Once they form a large army, they can be overwhelming. My red cap was LOADED with them. I would occasionally also see the random nudi just wandering around the tank looking for its next snack. Hate these buggers!:uzi:

Update: I bought a radiant wrasse this morning for general pest control. I only see on one of my small caps I may pull it out and remove the pest if the radiant doesn't get him first. I will probably end up throwing this cap away it was only $10.

Rovster: I have the infected purple cap. I also have a forest fire digitata, orange cap and digitata none of these have signs of damage or nudi's anywhere I can see. Could just remove the one infected peice and pray that they are isolated on this one peice ?

Good luck, this are the worst thing to have with monti's. I couldn't get rid of them even with a wrasse, the wrasse only keeps them a bay.

Definitely remove that monti and dip it, then keep it in a QT for a few weeks. I have about 6 monti colonies. When I first saw a nudi it was isolated to one colony. By the end of my battle I had 3 colonies infected and I lost one of them. Just be persistent.

I dipped every colony that was infected, and scrubbed the underneath parts to get rid of any eggs once a week for a few months

iv treated these nudis with potassium permanganate dips..google it, there is an interesting article around but I don't have the link

Brad65ford:i figured the wrasse wasn't a cure all, I am willing to take a chance he could end up being very beneficial.

JP SPS: What dip did you use ? And did you use a soft tooth brush to scrub the eggs off ? I recently read a thread that covering visible eggs with super glue can be effective. Have no idea if this is fact or fiction though.

nicknguyen:You give me hope! I plan on adding melanarus wrasse and possum wrasse in addition to my current radiant in my new rimless tank. I assume they will keep me flatworm free.
