Here is the monti I'm having some issues with. Most branches have good polyp extension, better than you see in the photo. However, on the one part circled in red, the polyps are really small, maybe 1/3 to 1/4 of the size of the other polyps, and near colorless, just a slight brownish green to them. Does anyone know whats wrong? I got this coral in the beginning of summer, i kept it low in the tank for the first week, light acclimated over the course of several months, almost to 50 percent power with my reef breeders LEDs. I have dropped it down now to about 40 or so percent power because I thought maybe the issue was that that part was bleached, but I just can't see how it bleached when it was light acclimated so slowly.

I wouldn't worry about it. Those are amongst the hardiest of SPS corals.
When in doubt, frag it out.

Alk is something that effects montis quite quickly as well.

I'm still a little concerned about this frag because I haven't seen significant improvement. My sudden concern today was spurred on by the fact that I came across a photo from when I first got it, showing full polyp extension in the area of concern. Is the symptoms seen in the first photo perhaps from a pest? My alk is always high, usually at 11 dkh as I use reef crystals salt, but this stays pretty stable. Is it a lack of stability with alkalinity that affects months, or is it a high or low range that negatively impacts them?
