I've grown this from a 1 inch branch.

Do you remember where you got it? It may be the purple polyped montipora capitata or a montipora verrucosa. Hard to say though.

Purple polyped montipora verrucosa would be my guess. I have one very similar. Yours is awesome!
Thanks,I have 2 allmost alike now.They grow at a decent rate.The higher I have this the more yellow it becomes.This is it when It was about 4 inches below the surface.

In Veron books, he says common in Hawaii and uncommon elsewhere.

In UK one of the frag suppliers sells them.

I had one these in my last tank, however I lost the main colony during the transfer over to my new tank. On the positive side I have noticed that a little frag has appeared that must have been left on the LR has starting to grow. So all is not lost.

On delivery the colouration of the frags is the same the picture i.e. light/purple polyps as in the picture. They then tend to turn a lime green. This has happened to myself and I know other people. I am guessing that too much much light causing the colour change. I never bothered moving the colony to find out as I preferred the lime green colour.
