and the smelly left overs

i tried to frag what i could
lost all of my monti caps
i managed to keep all 4 colors of my digi's

any ideas on how long i should wait till i put in new monti's?

BTW I had hundreds of these things, if not thousands, they were on every cap/digi in my tank the corals in the pics dont look bad but they were on the bottoms of the caps, the more infected caps were at the bottom of the bucket..

I put a neon wrasse in my tank and within a week the damage to my montis ended. I can't swear that the neon is responsible because I have never once seen him pick at a coral, but I haven't had any new coral loss in about 3 months since I put him in. I think the trick to getting a fish to eat the nudis is don't feed them. If they're fat and happy from the food you're giving them then why do they need to hunt the nudis? Now when I do feed the fish the neon doesn't even come up to get any.

man! thats tragic to loose all those corals just because those little bastards!! i had them on my caps and I think I got rid of them with fresh water dips.....the corals would stress out for a while but all eventualy came back!

i have 4 wrasses didnt seem to be making a dent.. i trashed like 15 corals, they were all infected..

Hey, I'd wait a few months at least if you a) still have any montis in there and b) your wrasses aren't eating them.

Odds are strong if you fragged those corals that there are gonna still be monti nudis around. From the rocks around where those corals were, and buried in the polyps of the frags you made.

What kind of wrasses do you have???

They destroy monti's with a gusto. Literally softball sized colonies in a couple days. As far as what to look for, they're tiny little sea slugs, about 2 mm, that are white with little appendages on their backs. Look for rapidly dying monti's, usually starting at the base and working up. Oh, yeah, and once they start eating a coral they can start to change to the color of that coral.

ok i lied thay are not all gone.. there are still some in my prop tank, where i tried to save some frags of my stuff..

well i bought 2 wrasses.. then moved all the infected frags down to my prop tank.. i guess that kinda defeated the purpose..lol
the wrasses would get out of my prop.. so maybe i put the colinys baclk in my main.. i guess it wont hurt any thing.. as there are no other montis in my main..

I did the same a little over a year ago. Tossed about 3+ buckets of coral. I tried all wrasses with little luck. If your tank is large it is hard to beat them. I am considering adding monti's again now.
