Monti Setosa Frag Growth 3 months

Here is the growth to date on a small frag of Montipora Setosa. Any input welcome.

Looking good. I want to try setosa one last time, previous 3x they just slowly faded away for unknown reasons.

I did not buy it from Steve Tyree so can't say for sure. It was sold to me as a Tyree by someone local to me, but I never call corals by name unless I am 100% positive. I just buy what I like.... ya know.

I wish there are more reefers like yours. To me, it looks like a tyree by judging the color. I have a couple of frags myself and that picture is spot on.

The chalices have been traded away. They grow too slow, and hated the LED's I added to my tank. 12 xp-g's and 12 xre-e's. Too much light I guess.

Completely understandable although larger chalices actually grow rather fast. They are just becoming too common for me. Kind of the same thing with acans. blah blah blah. However, I think the setosa is a really slow grower too but it could just be that the frags are always really small. That cellular division thingy.

I have always heard they encrust slow, but once they start branching growth speeds up. I have mine on an edge, and the only option it has really is branching. We shall see. So far I am happy with the growth on this piece.
