Montipora bleaching?

I´ve bought a frag of monti capri 15 days ago.
I think it´s growing but it is loosing color. Polips are open but the red is not that intense as when it came.
I´m only adding kalwasser and one drop of iodine every other day. (potasium iodine 10%)

Equipment:
50G aquarium
150W HQI
Deltec afp600 skimmer

Parameters:
Calcium 460
Magnecium 1350
KH 11
PH 8.2 aprox
Phosfate not detected (Salifert test)

What might be the problem? Just a mather of time?

What is your temperature? What is your iodine level at? If you can't measure the iodine, then STOP DOSING IMMEDIATELY. You could be putting your hole tank into serious danger. Also, what are your Nitrate and Phosphate readings?

I don´t have the test for iodine, I´ll stop dosing it to see what happens.
I´ve just run out of nitrate test. I´ll receive one next week.
My temperature is bet 77 and 81.

The phosfate is 0 using salifert test.

that is a large daily temp swing and could be related....also what are you dosing iodine for???i have a salifert iodnie TK and it sucks...hard to test for I2

if you want the TK ill sell it to ya

I can´t manage the temp because I have a heater but no chiller. If the day is very hot (not now) the temperature reach up to 83.
I´ve made anc DIY eco cooler to see what happens this summer.

I´m adding iodine for my gorgonia and to prevent infections the first days I introduce a new frag. Ï´ve stoped ading iodine to see if I was overdosing.

The coral has the polips open, the only sing is that looses colour.

I think it came from a tank with 400W MH and I have it only with 150W HQI (10000 K), maybe that´s the problem. What you think?

Sounds like the frag is zoo-ing up a bit from shipping. Give it a few weeks to color back up. Our monties go brown any time they are moved, but are tough and come back.

Add a couple of fans blowing across the water to handle the heat. You'd be surprised how much this can impact your temperature.

If you do this, you will have slightly higher evaporation. Make sure you keep an eye on that.

RokleM I´ve been using fans last years and they really work.

This year I´ll try the eco cooler to see if I can reduce temperature and send moisture out of the house.

fgarvine I hope you are right!!!!
