Montipora Capricornis (red) question

I got my first cap about a month ago. I've had polyp extension from day 1. There's some tissue trauma on the oldest growth, but the new growth has attached to the live rock, so I know it's growing.

My question is this: There's about a half inch "rim" along the growing edge that is bright pink under blue lighting. It's also more vibrant under full spectrum. The rest of the coral is very dull, with the exception of the polps. This rim was present when I received the frag. Is this typical coloration for this coral?

A photo would go a long way to help answer your question, but from what you're describing it's just growing fast, and yes, that's normal coloration.

They're easy to grow and typically grow fast with good water parameters.
