Montipora Growth

Hi all, I have had my purple Montipora Capricornis for a couple months now and from looking at other monti caps they all seem to plate out or scroll upwards in one way or another. I was just wondering if anyone would know why mine is only just encrusting the rock that its on. The other growth forms look more impressive and since its encrusting quite fast its only a matter of time before it reaches my other sps and starts picking fights, also the growth tip seems to be bending downwards. Any advice or opinions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Note: There is nothing noticeably wrong with my coral, colour is super bright and it is growing rapidly.

one of my monti caps started growing down in spots and up in others. Weird... in other areas, another monit cap is growing up and cup shaped.

Once that gets going it will grow over anything and everything. You can see mine is getting nailed by my vortech mp40 on reef crest at about 60% max power. Once acclimated, the more light you hit it with also, the more it will spiral upward

Yes, flow does matter in terms of growth patterns. This orange monti cap was in a spot with a bit less flow.
