hello all im new to sps. can anyone tell me the hardiest monties to start with. also what is the scientific name for the ones that form the large shelfs. have seen what i want at lfs, but scientific name was not known or listed

M. capricornis may be what you're referring to. I'd say most of the montis are on par in terms of hardiness, but I'd start with a cap or digitata if you're just getting your feet wet.

Monti cap for sure.but watch your placement keep them low they get big quick
