Moody leathers

I have a toadstool and either a sinularia or nepthea(not sure of id) that were added to my tank about 3 weeks ago. It took them a couple of days to open up once they were added but then they looked really good for a few days. Now it seems like they are looking good for a couple of days, then bad for a couple of days.

The toadstool sheds a mucous layer and then looks good again but this is literally happening like twice a week. The sinularia/nepthea kind of slumps over or shrivels up for a few days and then stands up and looks really nice.

I know that leathers go thru periods where they don't look great, but should it be this often? Are they still possible acclimating?

I also have ricordia, Xenia, acan, green star polyps and they are all doing great.

What are your params? And please dont just say good, numbers please =) I have had toadies act funny for a couple of weeks for no good reason before but have never lost one they seem very hardy. They could just be acclimating still, if they are shedding the mucus I think thats a good sign.

Try running carbon if you aren't already (especially if the leathers are near each other). Also, try adjusting the flow around these corals to see if they respond better.

leathers take a while to get into a routine and get used to your tank. Just leave them a lone and they will do their thing.

Interesting. I do a weekly 10% water change and that seems to be when they close up. The problem is that it takes them 3 or 4 days to start to look better again and then the process repeats itself. Will they get used to the WC routine or do I need to do something differently?
