Moon Cycles

It appears to me that my AquaController II has the moonrise and moonset with in the sunrise and sunset hence the moon lights are rarely on. My longitude and latitude are set to 00:00:00. Any one got suggestions other than just change the time in the cycles?

The lunar cycle in the controller follows the actual moon rise and set times. It is not shut on/off because of sunrise or sunset. In general the moon rises in the morning and sets in the evening during a new moon. The cycle shifts 50 minutes later every day, and by the time it is a full moon the moon is rising at sunset and setting at sunrise.

I got it. Thanks for the quick response. Essentially it is correct and I should just leave it alone.

Mine is set at 000/000 as well. I live on the East coast, EST. Is this set for the Eastern moon cycle or do I need to change the setting so that the light is full when the moon on the East coast is actually full? How do I find out what my setting needs to be? I dont see anything about that in the manual, unless Im missing it.

Also, I added a timer state that says

If LT1 On Then MON Off

So that the moon light does not waste energy and bulb life when my main lights are on. This wont change the timer of the default moon cycle while the moon light is off will it? In other words, the AC JR will still think the moon light is on and keep the timing of the moon cycle correct right? Does that make sense? Let me know if that is confusing.

Well, first of all forget about the moon lights "wasting" any energy. I assume you are using LED moonlights. They draw very little.
If you want a realistic moonlight then use the moon cylce and don't circumvent it's function by diabling it from being on while the main lights are on.

Also, the AC doesn't really care if the moon is actually up over the east coast or anywhere else for that matter. It's just a piece of electronic equipment. It has no opinion at all

I am using an incandescent light as the manual suggests. This way the light is dimable. LEDs are not. Im more worried about having to replace the bulbs all the time than I am about the energy.

The AC may not but the corals do. I understand that the moon will be in the same phase today whether your in Georgia or Hawaii. But "when" it is above your head will be different for sure. I want the light to correlate to the moon's actual cycle above the East coast. Are you saying that this CANNOT be done or that it does not matter? If it CAN be done, I would like to set my AC to do so.

Actually the moonrise and set times are about the same no matter where you are. Take a look at http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html, and you can calculate the times for the east and west coasts.
You can modify the rise/set times through the seasonal table editor in AquaNotes.
