Moorish Idol

I just bought a moorish IDOL and placed him in a 100G mature tank with a decent amount of LR. I put one piece of SPONGE for him to nip on and he is nipping on it and the rock but i cant get him to eat any other foods its only been 2 days and advice?

Lights on low or "off" for a week or so seems to help. The older the fish the more set in their ways they tend to be. You can try to keep him/her on live feeders but sooner or later I would guess you would like to get him on frozen or prepared foods right? That is often a slow and tough process. He/she has to have enough nutrients available to keep up with life in addition to growing and adapting to chanange in the environment.

Moorish Idols will usually eat flake food first, so I would try that, don't see much use on turning lights off for a week, that won't help with feeding. They will also usually take nori as a first food.
