Moray Eel

Can't say I've ever seen or heard of one, Maybe DME will chime in, if anyone has heard of it, chances are it'll be him, if not you may wanna PM him with ?'s

FMarini is correct.

Not difficult at all and that is one species which can be maintained in either freshwater, blackish or marine tanks as well it will grow an average 3'

Also this eel is keep by many in freshwater aquariums for it might explain much in why it is called "Freshwater moray"

prugs, If you know the right kind of people in this hobby, you would find that you can acquire most any marine pieces you care to mention ;)

Overall is this species hard to obtain?

I have a 125 gallon tank planned, currently I have a 90 gallon tank with 2 brackish columbian sharks. The sharks will be moved into the 125 soon. The SG will be around 1.015 so I am looking for suitable tankmates, hence why I asked about the moray.

Another question: what is the largest "freshwater" moray species easily obtainable thorugh LFS and such? I *think* it is Uropterygius
concolor but correct me if I am wrong.

Also, how large of a tank would you reccomend for 2 columbian sharks, 1 Uropterygius concolor, and 1 arothron dog face puffer?

beefchicken31, It not be ideal to have the salinity at 1.015 for brackish species need it to be 1.010 and the puffer is strictly a marine species which needs 1.021-24

I would pass on the idea to have any fish large enough to prey on eels for even that the columbian sharks could grow a maximum size of 2' that they will grow an average of 14" and if not well fed with look to make the eel a meal of it.

The puffer is NOT a strictly marine species, I have done plenty of research, trust me. Check fishbase, I have had a friend who has kept in brackish water its whole life and it was fine.

Having the SG of 1.015 will be fine for the eels, they are a brackish to marine eels NOT exclusively brackish, no fish is exclusively brackish.

The CS's wont grow to 2 feet, trust me. I HIGHLY doubt a 13 inch CS could eat a 16 inch eel.

I not believe that I ever seen that item, but it is however not fishbase as you first said to look so I knew you had a different source other then fishbase. Also they are any number of things one other may know that the other person not know of in which is how we all make some gain on knowing certain things so when I said you do what you like, I meant that you must know this for sure just because it is listed at just one site.

Myself, I can never follow the info on one species, specially when its simply at only one site, I will however later this weekend or next week read what you provided as your source of info and please, don't feel cocky about it when you say "ANd yes I will do what I like because I know better"

That is not a nice attitude to take. :(

WOW, a little testy beefchicken31.
DME was only instrested in finding out where you got the information. I too was surprised, since I really don't know much about brackish water specimens.

DME is an expert. How dare you question his knowledge. You should be ashamed of yourself. What he says is fact, even if there is a body of evidence that says otherwise. Respect your elders son.

He may be an expert, but he was inaccurate in most of his information, including the puffer. Personally, I would rather trust fish biologists, but thats just me. I dont think you should be calling me "son" as I am 32 son.

I apologized for my attitude, and I think you should mind your buisness.

Don't argue with me son!
Go look up sarcasm in the dictionary and then read my posts again. ;) I enjoyed your attitude

Sorry I not the time to comment or anything as that, I will however get back on later tonight for I been most the day going through my favorites and I have thousands of locations and most are research Institutes. I will be getting my new computer soon and as well will no longer have the name as I now on my AOL screen name.

beefchicken31, I am sorry for what you must be going through and feeling but it still not reason enough to have any kind of attitude for if the person is with some attitude because of personally reasons, you should had then taken a break from here and return on better terms.

Also just briefly, I no one single site in which I could on for details for as well I did have for many years F/O tanks.

Its not to say that there is always something that one would know then the other, it not makes anyone that less knowledgeable but also if this is correct in what you have there beefchicken31, you have only enhanced my knowledge even further.

I will get back to read over the new reply's since my last post.
