More Butterflies...

I have a 6' 150 gal. display tank with a 75 gal. sump and a Reef Octo DNWB200 skimmer, there are lots of hiding places in the 200 lbs. of LR too. I currently have a Copperband, Brugess and a Lemon butterfly in the tank and they hang out like three best friends. I also have an Occy. Clown and a Golden Midas Blenny FYI. My LFS has a very nice Laticed Butterfly and an absolutely beautiful Pakistani and I'm thinking about bringing them home. I'm pretty sure the Laticed will be fine with the other BF's since they're a pretty peaceful BF but my concern lies in adding the Pakistani... While the body types are still different I know the Pakistani is considered a "moderately aggressive" BF and it will easilly be the largest fish in the tank. It is eating quite well (is nice and fat for a BF) and is just plain stunning, I hate to pass up such a nice fish but I don't want to ruin the harmony in my tank.

What do you all think? -Steve

My pakistani doesn't bother other butterflies (saddleback, blackback, yellow longnose, and a pelewensis/punctatofasciatus hybrid), nor do they bother him. HTH.

Hello,
I had one year experience with that species, and can say that they are very peaceful. Maybe too peaceful (mine got bullied to death in 2 days by a naso tang, with almost no physical contact).
I believe they cope better in captivity when in pairs, you should think about that possibility.

Thanks for the info guys, in this case I won't pass up the Pakistani. I have 2 QT's going, I'll just introduce the Laticed to the display a week or two before the larger Pakistani. -Steve

I used to have a few of these... Goldcrown Butterflyfish--AKA P. Flavocoronatus. It is a hybrid between C. Burgessi and C. Declivis. I got them out of Tarawa Atoll about a year ago and they were just awesome.
