More Closed Loop Questions Again

Hello all,

Sorry for all the questions.

I just had a conversation with our local well known glass company about drilling my 125 glass tank and they said no because the chances of it being tempered after they looked at it were very high.

So I am back to running everything over the edge.

Now to my question. I am going to run 4 return lines into my tank for the closed loop with 2 at the top in the back 2 corners and am wondering if i can run a pvc line down the inside back of the tank to the bottom of the tank and "T" it there and run the other 2 lines under my sandbed to the front 2 bottom corners and then put 45's on them just above the sandbed? or is it better just to run the front 2 lines over the top to the front 2 top corners?

Thanks again

Steve

I don't see why not, as long as you get a pump large enough to compensate all those bends and t's if you know what I mean. If you have a mag 5 expecting 500gph out of all those nozzles, good luck cause it ain't gonna happen

as you branch off into t's and different lenghts of pipe, consider stepping down your pipe diameter to help keep the pressure balance between all the outputs. the water will tend to flow along the path of least resistance, and if one branch is longer or bendier than the other, the flow thru that tube will be poor.

Good Luck!!

Yes you can do it. On mine I have done that exact same thing. I took 4 3/4" pipes and T'd off each one into 1/2" pipe for a total of 8 outlets. Works great, just make sure you have a big enough pump for all outlets to work. Mine has about 2700gph and no more than 4 outlets open at the same time.

I drilled my 125 with 6 holes in the back. The tempered glass should have a sticker on it telling you it is tempered. You can buy the diamond saw on ebay for cheap, including shipping. It is less than 1/2 of what a glass or LFS charges for 1 hole.
