Home from work, figured I'd post a few more of the lovely Baba-Yaga, my G. Ternatensis...

Sizing up a snail that she had been whacking on. Note, she has paused, and her pupils are looking right at me.

Thrwoing out some threat (gang) signs. 'I think you're in the wrong neighborhood, Esse...'

Hungry (as ever) when I entered the room, she waits for whatever I have brought her. This time it was some shrimp. She has thrown lobster back at me, however...Finicky girls! She's ready to throw out a threat at a moments, notice...just in case I try and feed her a silverside again (none of my mantis seem to like them, though the wormbeds and the hermits love'em!).

She was languishing away in a tiny critter-keeper in a shop here in SF called 6th avenue aquarium(known as 6th avenue fish purgatory to many locals). The guys there are very nice, but the living conditions leave much to be disired on the part of the animals. I also bought my G. Platysoma at the same time there. Whenever he decides to finish up his molt, I should be able to get pics of jim.
My G. Viridis seems to be one of the most elusive (other than unwanted hitchhikers...) Mantis on RC, though he darts out here-and-there. He is very content in his Fortress, but that makes for bad photo-ops.
